The 2023/24 La Liga season moves into its final phase in the coming weeks with all 20 sides facing eight further games each.
Down at the bottom, Celta Vigo are dangling just above the relegation zone, following the departure of former Liverpool and Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez last month.
In the title race, Real Madrid look set to cruise over the finish line, with Carlo Ancelotti’s team boasting an eight-point advantage over second place rivals Barcelona ahead of their meeting on April 21.
However, there will be no La Liga matches this weekend, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid all boosted by an extra break ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clashes next week.
Why is there no La Liga matches this weekend?
The La Liga schedule has been cleared this weekend due to the Copa del Rey final between Athletic Club and Mallorca on Saturday April 6.
The major Spanish domestic cup final is still held in high regard in Spanish football, and La Liga traditionally removes all top-flight league matches for the weekend of it each season.
When does La Liga return?
La Liga fans will only have to wait a week for the competition to return, with games set for April 12-14, and the campaign will end on May 26.
Atletico Madrid host top-four rivals Girona on Saturday April 13, as Real Madrid head to Mallorca, with Barcelona travelling to Cadiz, all on the same day of action.
