RYANAIR boss Michael O’Leary has revealed staff are banning Brits from carrying water bottles on flights to Ibiza.

It comes after it emerged holidaymakers had been filling the bottles with vodka, with flyers seen sharing the ‘hack’ on video-sharing app TikTok.

Staff have already begun searching passengers’ hand luggage on flights to Ibiza, O’Leary said.

He told the Times: “Before we only allowed them to take bottles of water on board, not realising they were full of vodka. Now we don’t even allow them.”

He added: “In the old days people who drank too much would eventually fall over or fall asleep. But now those passengers are also on tablets and powder. It’s the mix.

“You get much more aggressive behaviour that becomes very difficult to manage. And it’s not directed just at the crew. Passengers fighting with each other is now a growing trend on board the aircraft.”

O’Leary said airport authorities should impose a two-drink limit for passengers following a surge in fights and drinking-related incidents on flights.

He said people should be asked to show their boarding pass when buying an alcoholic drink, with staff being able to check if they have already purchased two.

O’Leary said violent incidents on flights have increased this summer and are now occurring ‘every week’.
