The list of unexpected places to have coffee in Madrid has a new member just a few days ago: Zacaffè, the first coffee shop that Zara has opened in Spain and that has decided to locate in the Salamanca district, specifically at number 14 Hermosilla street.
The location is no coincidence: Zacaffè is connected to the new Zara Man store that the brand has opened in the neighborhood – although the store and the café have separate entrances – and its aesthetics, the work of the creative agency Art Recherche et Industrie, is inspired by neo-Mudejar architecture.
“The warm colors and bricks used in the interior are a direct reference to the Casa Árabe in Madrid. A characteristic shape visible throughout the café – from the tiles to the personalized tableware – is reminiscent of the moucharabiehs of Arab architecture,” the brand says in a press release.
With this wink, they continue, they intend that each Zacaffè that opens has “a cultural link with each city” in which it is located. And they have planned “future openings at a global level”.
What do you eat and drink at Zacaffè?
This is a specialty coffee shop with coffee roasted by Waco Coffee (A Coruña) in which, as can be seen in the video of a TikTok user, the menu consists of the following drinks:
- Hot drinks (latte, flat white, iced coffee, iced latte, iced latte, mocha coffee, coffee tonic…).
- Hand brew
- Teas and infusions (matcha latte, chai latte, cocoa latte, Christmas choco, golden milk, ginger lime…)
- Cold drinks (water and sparkling water)
According to the Repsol Guide, Waco Coffe has designed for this space “a pair of sweet coffees […] one with caramel notes. And the other, with notes of cherry. With milk, both pair very well”. And they are available in different sizes: regular, plus and oversize.
On the other hand, the drink can be accompanied by artisanal pastries such as croissants, pain au chocolat, palmiers or kouign amann (a typical Brittany butter cake). In addition, they encourage customers to ask their staff for “the special selection of the day”.
Prices for drinks range from 2.50€ to 9€ and for pastries from 3€ to 3.90€.
