Rudy Fernández was presented with the Gran Cruz de la Orden del Dos de Mayo in a ceremony that took place in the Real Casa de Correos, as part of the celebrations for the Day of the Community of Madrid. The Real Madrid star, who received the award from the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, was recognised as a “one of the greatest representatives of Spanish basketball success, two-time world champion with the national team, with three Olympic medals and multiple trophies with Real Madrid”.
A career of legends
Rudy is the figurehead of one of the most glittering eras of the Real Madrid basketball team. In his 13 seasons at the club, he has won 25 trophies: 3 European Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 6 league titles, 6 Copa del Rey trophies and 9 Spanish Super Cups. He is the third player in terms of appearances in the history of Real Madrid, only surpassed by Llull and Reyes, and his success also applies to the Spanish national team, with which he has won 2 Basketball World Cups, 4 Eurobaskets, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal at the Olympic Games.
