Cheap rail tickets starting at 7 euros throughout Spain between July and September

The summer is the perfect time to travel by train. No stuffy car rides stuck in traffic behind thousands of other holidaymakers. No stressing at airport baggage checks. Instead, sit back and relax in comfortable, air-conditioned carriages and watch the world go by.

To celebrate the arrival of summer, Spain’s main railway company Renfe has launched another of its hugely popular ‘Superprecios’ or ‘Super Price’ mega sales. Passengers who jump online and purchase a ticket before July 1 will find cheap train trips across Spain for as little as 7 euros each way. The discounts are valid for travel between July 22 and September 8.

Tickets purchased during this campaign will be available for AVE, Avlo and Larga Distancia trains, with the lowest price of 7 euros corresponding to some routes of its budget Avlo brand.

Of course, the most popular destinations will come with a slightly higher price tag, but there’s still some great deals to be had. A journey between Madrid and Valencia, for example, can be had for just 14 euros, while one-way travel from Madrid to Zaragoza, Pamplona, Logrono or Burgos starts at 15 euros.

Renfe has also put tickets on sale from 18 euros for travel between Madrid and Barcelona, Lleida and Camp de Tarragona, as well as between Madrid and Sevilla, Granada, Algeciras, Almería and Extremadura.

On top of being easy on our wallets, Renfe has pointed out that train travel is also kinder to the environment. According to the company itself, the daily operation of all its trains (freight and passenger) prevents the emission of 4.1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year and represents an energy saving equivalent to more than 1.1 million tonnes of oil.
