The world will never forget the massacre carried out by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas on October 7, 2023. They murdered thousands of Israelis and foreigners and kidnapped 250 people to the Gaza Strip, of whom about 100 are still in the hands of terrorists.
We have just watched, with horror, a series of videos captured by the cell phones of Hamas terrorists and security cameras in kibbutzim, which have shown heartbreaking and disturbing scenes of the October 7 attacks on the civilian population. The Israeli Embassy in Peru held a private event with audiovisual material on that tragedy for journalists and intellectuals.
The brutality of the terrorists’ actions and their celebration of their murders, cutting off heads, stabbing, torturing, shooting in all directions, setting fire to and throwing grenades into houses and inexplicably taking pleasure in their cruelty, show the sadism of inhuman beings. An audio recording was heard of a Hamas terrorist telling his father: “Dad, I have already killed ten…”, saying it with emotion.
The magnitude of the massacres and the destruction caused, as shown in these videos, generates and continues to generate indignation and sadness. It is important that the truth be known and that justice be sought for the victims and that they be honoured.
The events of 7 October were extremely traumatic and have left a deep mark on the collective memory, which must not be forgotten, nor should such atrocities be repeated. Nothing justifies such horror.
The Israeli government is still searching for the hostages alive with its military interventions in Gaza and in parallel negotiations in Qatar. The release of the hostages and the elimination of the Hamas threat are crucial objectives for achieving peace in the region.
