After leaving Borussia Dortmund upon the expiry of his contract, Mats Hummels (35) is available on a free transfer. But one club that won’t be signing the German defender is Real Madrid.
That’s according to AS (via fussball.news), who report that Hummels is not an option for Champions League winners Real because he doesn’t fit the profile of Los Blancos. The Spanish giants are in the market for a replacement for Nacho, who joined Qatari side Al-Qadsiah FC after playing the whole of his professional career at Real Madrid.
As reported earlier, Hummels is yet to make his final decision, and is looking to take time to ensure that he makes the right move, as he believes it to be the final transfer of his career.
Another club that has shown interest in Hummels is Italian side Bologna, who secured Champions League football following a phenomenal season. A move to Italy hinges on the future of Riccardo Calafiori (22), who is close to finalising a move to Premier League side Arsenal.
