The Spanish PM has travelled to Woodstock for a meeting of the European Political Community
According to Spanish government sources, both leaders expressed their conviction that, since the agreement on Gibraltar’s status post-Brexit was very advanced under Rishi Sunak, it will be possible to conclude the negotiations in the near future.
However, they did not go into details, nor did they specify any specific date as a deadline.
The one shred we have to hang onto, though, is that upon his arrival at the summit, Sánchez made statements to journalists expressing his confidence that a deal would be possible in the coming months.
Spain’s commitment to Ukraine
Sánchez also met with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who thanked him for the ‘strong’ support that Spain is giving his country. Zelenskyy particularly highlighted the support shown at the NATO summit held in Washington last week.
The President also showed his support for a second peace conference in Ukraine, planned by Zelenskyy after the first one held in Switzerland last June.
