Speaking to the press after lifting the Champions League trophy last night, Rodrygo confirmed his stay at Real Madrid next season, putting an end to rumours linking him with a permanent transfer to Manchester City.
The Brazilian’s starting position is expected to be jeopardised following the potential arrival of Kylian Mbappé at Madrid but he remains committed to the project. He said: “This week some media said about bids, clubs, interest… I don’t know anything about it and I’m not interested.”
It is yet to be seen how Rodrygo manages his place with Los Blancos but he has clearly indicated that he is settled at the club and will not entertain offers elsewhere. The 23-year-old remarked: “Even if there are proposals, I have no idea about that… I’m staying. I’m happy here. How can I leave Real Madrid?!”
It remains to be seen how Manchester City reacts to this situation as they continue their search to bring in new faces to accelerate the growing project at the Etihad Stadium.
