Former champions Barcelona will begin their 2024-25 La Liga campaign with an away game at Valencia on Saturday, August 17.
The Spanish club has handed the reigns to new manager Hansi Flick, who took over from club legend Xavi during the summer. Flick, who has managed German national side and Bayern Munich before this, has emphasised on improving the players’ fitness during the preseason training.
“We work in a totally different way to how they did before. Especially the physical part. For me it’s crucial, it’s every step. Physical fitness is the base. You need it,” Flick said on arriving at Barcelona.
In a short preseason campaign, Barcelona beat Manchester City on penalties and defeated Real Madrid 2-1 on August 4.

Barcelona are also bolstered by the return of attacking midfielder Dani Olmo. One of the key players in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, Olmo has signed a six-year deal with his former club.
