These were the winners at the 25th annual Latin Grammys
Karol G made history at the 25th annual Latin Grammy awards in Miami, becoming the first woman to win best urban album consecutively.
The Christian music band Un Corazón from Juárez and El Paso was recently honored by the Juárez mayor and city government for winning a 2024 Latin Grammy.
Un Corazón won the Latin Grammy for Best Christian Album in Spanish last month for its album “Kintsugi,” whose title comes from the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold.
“We love this city, we love the community because we know that it has been fractured and restored,” Kim Richards, vocalist and songwriter, said in a Juárez city news release. “We are proud to be from this border region and we like to represent it. We believe that God sent us to serve and what better way to do it than through music.”
Juárez Mayor Cruz Perez Cuellar presented the band a formal recognition on Nov. 26 congratulating them on its success, talent and music.
“This is a triumph that celebrates the talent and perseverance of the group from Juárez and El Paso, who with their art have carried a message of unity and love that transcends borders,” Perez Cuellar said in a news release.
Un Corazón, based out of the Comunidad Olivo church in Juárez, has gained international attention. The band is touring across the U.S. and Mexico and Latin America. In September, the band learned of its nomination for a Latin Grammy while in Peru.
The band is scheduled to perform on Jan. 26 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and in Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional (National Auditorium) on Feb. 23.
