PASSENGERS on a flight from Barcelona to Lisbon had a nasty surprise on Wednesday, when the Airbus A320 they were travelling on suffered a cabin pressure problem.

The plane, which was operated by Spanish low-cost airline Vueling, had taken off from the El Prat airport in the Catalan capital, bound for the Portuguese capital.

But according to air-traffic controllers, who released details about the incident via their account on social network X, the crew radioed to say that they had encountered a possible depressurisation problem shortly after takeoff.

The affected flight was operated by Vueling.

They requested permission to return to the airport out of precaution, which was granted.

As the tracking of the aircraft from website FlightRadar24 shows, the plane was in a holding pattern over the Mediterranean sea before it could land.

The A320 was able to return to El Prat without any further issues, according to the post from the air-traffic controllers.
