Eight FC Barcelona players are in Spain’s 57-man pre-list for Euro 2024, though it’s widely expected that not all of them will be in the final list of 26.
Manager Luis de la Fuente has sent the list to the Spanish federation, and it’s known the following players are included: Pau Cubarsí, Iñigo Martínez, Alejandro Balde, Fermín López, Pedri, Gavi, Lamine Yamal, and Ferrán Torres.
It’s understood Balde and Gavi will not be able to participate due to injuries, so putting them on the list is mainly a symbolic gesture.
Cubarsí and Yamal are expected to be called up unless a major injury were to occur. Pedri is also expected to make the list, although there is some doubt due to the fact that he has only recently come back from injury.
Torres had been a fixture in the Spain squad but his lack of good form lately puts him on the bubble. However, the fact that the maximum squad size grew from 23 to 26 helps his case.
Fermín has not received a Spain cap yet but the rumors say that the manager loves him. Still, Spain’s midfield is packed, and it could be hard for him to find a spot. It’s possible he only gets in if one of Spain’s current midfielders has a physical problem or is in bad form.
Martínez is unlikely to be a part of the final list.
