The respective boards at La Liga clubs Atlético Madrid and Deportivo Alavés have on Tuesday closed a transfer agreement.
That’s according to Spanish football insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards the deal in question as coming for Santiago Mouriño.
The name of defender Mouriño has taken its place front and centre in the transfer chatter in La Liga for several weeks now.
This comes after, first, word was forthcoming that Getafe were closing on a deal for the Uruguayan talent.
After failing to push a definitive accord over the line, however, the Azulones opened the door for rival suitors to enter the fray for a player not in the plans of Diego Simeone for the season ahead.
And, as a result, Getafe now look set to miss out…
As per the aforementioned Matteo Moretto:
‘Alavés have reached an agreement in principle for Uruguayan Santiago Mouriño from Atlético de Madrid and the club have an option to buy him back.’
