Barcelona have confirmed that Alejandro Baldé has picked up an adductor injury while on international duty with Spain.

Baldé was withdrawn at half-time of Spain’s 2-0 victory over Scotland on Thursday, with La Roja coach Luis de la Fuente confirming post-match that the left-back would be returning to his club for treatment and would not travel with the national team for Sunday’s Euro 2024 qualifier with Norway.

And a statement from Barcelona confirmed on Friday that the 19-year-old is indeed suffering from adductor discomfort, but the injury is not believed to be serious.

Blaugrana coach Xavi will be hoping to have Baldé available for selection when his side take on Athletic Club after the international break.

Meanwhile, Athletic suffered an injury blow of their own on Thursday night, with Nico Williams also returning to his club from Spain international with a chest problem.

Villarreal left-back Alfonso Pedraza has been called up to Spain’s squad to replace Baldé.
