Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has this weekend revealed his admiration for Barcelona star Dani Olmo.
This comes amid the suggestion that the summer arrival in Catalunya’s capital has long been underrated across the continent.
Midfielder Olmo, for his part, was expected to play a prominent role for Spain this international break, after doing likewise for La Roja at the European Championships over the summer.
The 26-year-old, however, was last month struck down by a hamstring injury, ruling him out for a period of four to five weeks.
Speaking to the media this weekend, manager Luis de la Fuente, in turn, was eager to make clear just how highly he thinks of Olmo.
During an exchange with the media ahead of Spain’s Nations League meeting with Denmark, the tactician revealed his take that the Barcelona man has long been underrated, explaining:
“People are surprised at what Dani Olmo is like now… I’m surprised they didn’t realize it before!”
De la Fuente continued:
“Olmo, Pedri, Fermín, Gavi… my goodness, they are the best in the world in their position.”
