The woman was found stabbed to death in Castellón in the Valencian Community
The grisly discovery was made at noon on Tuesday July 16 in the Cap i Corp area. The camper was parked on the Camí de l’Atall, a designated overnight spot for vehicles that offers spectacular views of the sea and beach below. The woman suffered a brutal death and had been stabbed multiple times all over her body.
Initially, investigators were under the assumption that the woman was with a companion, but the local government has now confirmed that she was travelling alone. It has since come to light that the holidaymaker had previously stayed overnight in Tarragona, by herself, and there were no signs of anyone else sleeping in the motorhome.
A specialised team from the Guardia Civil have been combing the area since the discovery was made, but they currently have no leads. Officers have also questioned dozens of potential witnesses, as the area is a popular parking spot for campers.
At the moment, every possible motive is being considered, from a sexually-motivated crime to a robbery gone wrong.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the town of Alcossebre, one of the busier tourist destinations in the province of Castellón.
Playa Torrenostra, the scene of this stomach-churning incident, has only just been reinstated with a Blue Flag after being stripped of the accolade last year. Ironically enough, Blue Flags are awarded for water quality and hygiene, among other things.
