On the other hand, diesel has dropped across Spain for the first time since January
According to data from the European Union Petroleum Bulletin, the average price of a litre of petrol has risen by 0.25% this week, bringing it to 1.609 euros per litre, its highest level since mid-November.
Meanwhile, the average price of a litre of diesel has fallen by 0.57% compared to last week, now standing at 1.552 euros per litre.
Despite the recent increases, both fuels remain above the levels they were at before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022. At that time, the price of unleaded was 1,592 euros per litre, and diesel was priced at 1,479 euros per litre.
However, the costs of both are still far from the highs recorded in the summer of 2022, when petrol reached 2,141 euros per litre and diesel hit a record-breaking 2.10 euros per litre.
Today, filling an average 55-litre tank with unleaded fuel will set you back approximately 88.49 euros, which is 2.50 euros less than at the same time last year, when the price was a whopping 91 euros and the discount of 20 cents per litre was still in play throughout Spain.
For diesel vehicles, filling an average tank means an outlay of 85.36 euros, about 3.57 euros cheaper than in the same period of 2023, when the price was 92.23 euros.
While the price of 95 unleaded in Spain remains below the average of the European Union (1,736 euros per litre) and the eurozone (1,787 euros), the price of diesel in Spain is also lower than the EU average (1,689 euros) and the average in the Eurozone (1,721 euros).
