Annabel Wilson’s superb run at the Women’s Spanish Amateur Championship came up just shy at the semi final stage in Malaga.

The Castlerock star was beaten 4&3 by eventual winner of the championship, Spaniard Andrea Revuelta Goicoechea 4&3.

Wilson went on a terrific run, finishing second in the 36-hole strokeplay qualifying before earning comfortable matchplay wins. None of her matches went the distance.

It’s another strong indication of Wilson’s return to form after the former Curtis Cup star finished 8th at the Portuguese Amateur Championship.

Meanwhile, in the Men’s Spanish Amateur in Club de Golf Alcanada, Sean Keeling holed out with a wedge from 80 yards for a closing eagle to give him a 4th place finish.

The Roganstown star carded a final round of 69 for a one-over total, seven shots shy of eventual winner Lars Van der Vight of the Netherlands.

It was a strong week all around for the Irish with Naas man Rob Brazill taking a share of ninth place on six-over while Ryan Griffin was T14 on plus eight.

Royal Dublin’s Hugh Foley finished in a share of 22nd on ten-over while David Shiel was T50.
