Although the La Liga title is already beyond their grasp, FC Barcelona were still able to get important three points in their last game against Almeria, which will go a long way in helping the Catalans get a second-place finish in La Liga, and qualify for the next edition of the Spanish Super Cup.
As SPORT has noted, being the MVP in this game, Fermin Lopez also talked to the media after the match, and showed his satisfaction with his contributions to the team in his first season in the Barcelona first team:
“I could never have imagined that in my first season with the first team, I would contribute so much. I’m happy to help the team with goals, but above all for the victory, which allows us to fight for second place until the end. We know it’s important for the club, it’s now our objective and we are on the right track.”
The first goal scored by Lopez came through a header, and the midfielder himself talked about his ability to head the ball: “Despite being small, I’ve always had good timing with headers. And besides, Héctor gave me a perfect pass.”
There is no doubt that despite not being a clear starter for Xavi, Fermin Lopez has been an extremely important player for Barcelona this season. He has scored key goals throughout the season, and those goals have also come against opposition sides as strong as Real Madrid.
